well i think something needs to be done about all the, spam. Is it impossible to delete all spam posts and only allow members to post from now on?

i think there is a way. i don't know how though, although i'm sre you'd need a huge moderating team to do it. just have them delete all spam etc. if that dosen't work then introduce a clear rewards and punisments scheme.

well im the one deleting the spam. at its been very low of late. ive gotten the forum changed to members only to put a stop to the xxx stuff that was swamping the forum. i just dont have the power to delete the few users who are using this place to advertice networks and the like.

There have been a lot of forums that i've been a member of that have had to deal with a lot of spam, which is so useless to everyone, so the admin and mods there have had to make it a members only board which is only fair as there is only so much moderating you can do.

i had the forum altered to members only too... tho u can still access the site if your not registered u can only post if ur logged on which helps alot >< well heh helps ME lots Razz

Old thread, new solution!

The way most forums deal with spam is either to get an admin to manually accept every person that registers i.e. an email gets sent to the admin and they decide whether the person is legit.

Another way is to appoint moderators - usually people who are online the most or are trustworthy enough to spot spam. They have the ability to delete the post.
